OPTICAL
MANUFACTURING/PRODUCTION
OPTICAL SUBASSEMBLIES:
A variety of optical
subassemblies and subsystems were fabricated. This has included
complex subsystems like the FLIR shown earlier on the Engineering
page, to small air spaced etalons approximately a couple of
millimeters on a side. The small etalons have applications to
tunable lasers. Other assemblies include electro-optical window
assemblies like the two shown on the left above. Standard tank
sights were slightly redesigned to include a view port which allowed
them to be incorporated into tank simulators for pilot training.
A variety of traditional prism assemblies and non traditional ones
like liquid prisms used for large projection equipment have been
assembled and tested .

COMPONENTS:
Components that have been
designed and produced cover a very diverse ranges of products.
A variety of window components for military applications were
fabricated and coated. Coatings for these components were
especially challenging because of demanding environmental
requirements and AR performance over wide angles. In
addition some components required the incorporation of stealth
technology which further complicated the coating requirements.
A variety of coatings were produced for imaging lenses which
required both antireflection and color characteristics. Many special
color filters were designed and developed for CCD cameras, medical
instrumentation, and other specialized applications.
Several types of components
were fabricated for the telecommunications industry. This
includes coatings for lithium niobate (a material used for
attenuators, circulators, etc.), coatings for etalons, DWDM filters,
and fibers.
Laser components, like output
couplers, amplifiers, and frequency doublers were fabricated,
produced and tested to insure high power and good beam quality for
assembled laser systems operating at specific wavelengths.
